This session provides a brief overview on the periodontal-endodontic lesion (PEL).

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Diagnose periodontal-endodontic lesions (PEL)
  • Treat and monitor periodontal-endodontic lesions (PEL)

The pulpal space and periodontium have a direct communication via the apical foramen, accessory canals and dentine denuded of cementum.

This session provides a simplified overview on the classification and management of periodontal-endodontic lesions (PEL).

Associate Specialist, Specialist Practitioner and a Specialist Clinical Teacher in Periodontics

Richard worked in general practice for 6 years before studying part time for an MSc in Periodontics at The Royal London. Since that time, he has had positions within practice, community and hospital.

Richard presently works as an associate specialist within the CDS (Ealing/Brent), a specialist practitioner (London/Hertfordshire) and a specialist clinical teacher in periodontics (Guy’s, London).
