This session addresses how change is introduced and implemented. It recognises the impact of change on the continuity of service provision, as well as on other areas of service delivery and on individuals. This session supports the development of leadership in clinical settings.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Examine the broader context in which change occurs and how systems are interrelated
  • Consider the impact of change on services and on individuals
  • Describe means of engaging with people and motivating them to support the introduction of change
  • Demonstrate your contribution to leadership by identifying how you will support colleagues adjust to change in your service

Inherently, leadership is about change. This doesn’t mean achieving change for change’s sake, nor does it mean all change is good. Change is not the end in itself.
