Description
This session will review the natural history, presentation and management of peripheral arterial aneurysms.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Define and classify peripheral arterial aneurysms
  • Identify and manage:
  • Popliteal aneurysms
  • Iliac, femoral, and common splanchnic arterial aneurysms

Prerequisites
Before commencing this session you should have a basic knowledge of:

  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm disease and its risk factors, epidemiology and principles of management
  • Lower limb ischaemic presentations and management
  • Surgical/endovascular interventions such as bypass grafts, open aneurysm repair, arterial stenting, thrombin injection
  • Arterial anatomy

You should also have completed the following sessions:

  • Peripheral Vascular Disease: Acute Limb Ischaemia (100-2015)
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease: Chronic Limb Ischaemia (100-2014)
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease: Aneurysms - AAA (100-2016)

In this session we will look at the definition, presentation and management of the following arterial aneurysms:

  • Peripheral
  • Popliteal
  • Iliac
  • Common femoral
  • Splenic
  • Hepatic
