By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Appreciate the social disadvantages associated with a person with learning disabilities being within a family home
  • Comprehend the transitions which the parents of a person with learning disabilities go through
  • Interpret the different opportunities for long term care of people with learning disabilities
  • Judge how parents, family and carers can best be involved in the care of people with learning disabilities
  • Support parents, family and carers when they offer care to people with learning disabilities
