Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is a rare but devastating event for any family. This session covers the causes, risk factors and prevention of SIDS and also advice on how to respond after a death.

• recognise the risk factors for SIDS and assess the risk within your practice population
• recognise the opportunities available to advise patients regarding preventative measures

Sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS, is defined as the sudden unexpected death of an infant aged from one month to one year.
