Strategies To Prevent Tooth Erosion course for Dental Practice
This session provides an introduction to the available strategies for protection against erosive tooth wear.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Identify the key elements of erosive tooth surface loss (TSL) risk assessment
- Describe the processes involved in erosive TSL
- List the principles behind key strategies to help prevent erosive TSL
- List the limitations of these strategies
Tooth surface loss (TSL) is a generic term used to describe the endpoint of a variety of processes that may, alone or in combination, work to produce pathological amounts of tooth tissue loss.
Before commencing this session you should:
- Have a basic knowledge of the effects of acid on enamel and dentine
- Be familiar with the concept of critical pH and demineralisation
Satinder is currently working in Morriston Hospital as a Restorative Dental SpR.
He completed undergraduate training at Cardiff Dental School 2002 and completed a vocational training year in a general dental practice setting in Warwickshire.
Previously, Satinder completed a year as a maxillofacial SHO in the Coventry Warwick rotation then 6 months as a split post in oral surgery and as a restorative dental SHO in King’s College London Dental Institute.
Also, he completed 6 months as a paediatric dental SHO in Guys hospital and completed 1 year as a restorative SHO in a Leeds Dental institute.
He passed, with distinction, an MSc in Conservative dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute.
