This session will introduce some of the key considerations when addressing the sexual and reproductive health needs of people who identify as transgender or non-binary, as well as those in same-sex and bisexual relationships.

Learning objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • 10.2.1 Respond to the sexual and reproductive healthcare needs of people who identify as transgender or non-binary
  • 10.2.2 Respond to the sexual and reproductive health care needs of people in bisexual and same-sex relationships

In the UK, approximately 2.0% of the population identifies as lesbian, gay or bisexual, although this increases to 4.2% in those aged 16-24. While there is no official number of individuals who identify as transgender, tentative estimates range between 200 000 and 500 000
