Description
This session will cover the clinical features, investigation and management of late syphilis in the HIV negative individual.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe the natural history and clinical features of late syphilis
  • Recognise the importance of atypical and asymptomatic presentations
  • Describe the clinical assessment and investigations needed to diagnose or exclude late syphilis
  • List the first and second line treatment of late syphilis
  • Describe the follow up arrangements including partner notification for those treated for late syphilis

Prerequisites
Before commencing this session you should complete the sessions:

  • Module 01/Sexual History (260-0004)
  • Module 04/Early Infectious Syphilis (260-0052)
  • Module 04/Positive Treponemal Serology in Asymptomatic Patients (260-0053)
