Partner notification is an important tool for the prevention of onward transmission of STIs.
Effective partner notification enables the identification and contact of as many people at risk of infection as possible. This then offers them the chance of early diagnosis and treatment.
It is very important that all patients who are diagnosed with STIs are seen by a healthcare professional competent at partner notification, ensuring partner notification takes place and is followed up effectively.
