This session will cover common clinical signs found in the practice of Genitourinary and HIV medicine.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe the appearance of common physical signs relevant to the practice of Genitourinary Medicine (GUM)
  • Diagnose conditions based on their characteristic appearances
  • Recognise the significance of these physical signs to develop a practical clinical management plan

Prerequisites
Before commencing this session you should complete the following sessions:

  • Module 1/Male Genital Examination (260-0009)
  • Module 1/Female Genital Examination (260-0010)

This session serves to provide a guide to the diagnosis of common and important clinical conditions encountered in Genitourinary Medicine (GUM).

Emphasis is placed on the clinical aspects of the conditions and, where possible, the underlying pathophysiology.

The session will cover the following topics:

  • Genital Discharge in the male and female
  • Genital Ulceration
  • Genital Lumps

It will examine the aetiology, causative organisms, transmission and clinical features.
