Restrictive Practices New Requirements
A short learning activity about restrictive practices in residential aged care. This includes updated information from the new requirements for restrictive practices that came into effect on the 1st July 2021.
Overview
There are changes to the rules about restrictive practices in residential aged care for workers and others to follow. Findings and recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety have led to the changes.
The rules came in on the 1st July 2021 and more new rules apply from the 1st September 2021. The ACQSC will be keeping a check on aged care services to make sure they are following the new rules.
Your workplace will be updating their polices and rules for the Use of Restrictive Practices too, so make sure you find out what has changed and ask for help if you don’t understand the new rules.
