Psychosocial Issues at the End of Life course for GPs
This session provides a broad guide for GPs about the types of support available in the UK for terminally ill patients and their families as their needs change with the progress of the patient's disease and treatment.
This session was reviewed by Khyati Bakhai and last updated in January 2021.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Describe the major support needs of patients with terminal illness and their families
- Know where to find information about available support
- Give patients and families information about the support they may be entitled to
A diagnosis of a terminal illness is devastating for both the patient and his or her family.
Patients and families have support needs that may vary over time and according to the progress of their disease and treatment.
