Prosthodontic Treatment of Dental Implants course for Dental Practice
This session describes the prosthodontic stages of restoring dental implants. It includes the different methods of restoration that can be used for dental implants, including both provisional and definitive restorations and the stages that may be required.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- identify the different methods of restoring dental implants, including the difference between cement-retained and screw-retained implant restorations
- explain the basic implant components that are required to undertake the restoration of dental implants
- list the stages involved in restoring dental implants
Dental implants have become an integral part of fixed and removable prosthodontics. This session aims to cover the basic principles of restoring dental implants as well as the different types of implant restorations that can be provided.

Nick graduated with honours from Newcastle University and undertook general professional training in the North East before moving to the Eastman Dental Hospital in 2003.
He completed a Masters in Conservative Dentistry in 2007 and undertook higher specialist training in Restorative Dentistry Eastman Dental Hospital and became consultant in Restorative Dentistry in 2009. He is recognised by the GDC as a specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Periodontology and Endodontics.
He now shares his time between hospital and private practice.
