Pathophysiology of Diabetes course
This session provides an understanding of the pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes. It covers the incidence and prevalence, aetiological factors, considers the role of insulin and the outcomes of insulin deficiency.
Learning ObjectivesBy the end of this session you will be able to:
- State the incidence and prevalence of type 1 diabetes
- List the possible aetiological factors in type 1 diabetes
- Explain the role of insulin in glucose metabolism
- Describe the consequences of insulin deficiency
This is the first of seven sessions that will provide you with the relevant knowledge for when a well child first presents with type 1 diabetes.
