Pain Evaluation course for Medical Doctors
This is the first of two sessions on pain experience in children and young people. It covers the evaluation of pain, including its definition, pathophysiology, presentation and assessment.

- Describe the pathophysiology of pain and the pain pathway
- Explain pain terms
- Interpret the presentation of pain
- Assess pain
Pain is a complex issue, which is perceived differently by individuals for a variety of reasons - both physically and psychologically.
Sarah is a paediatric consultant working in shared care oncology, which introduced her to the important work to be done in palliative care. For the last 3 years she has also been working for the local children's hospice, providing symptom management and end of life care.
