Nutrition Before and During Pregnancy course
This session focuses on nutritional recommendations for women before and during pregnancy.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Describe the dietary recommendations for optimising fertility and fetal well-being including pre-natal vitamin supplementation
- Describe what eating well looks like for women in pregnancy
- Describe the additional nutritional challenges for some at-risk groups in the UK
The health of both men and women pre-conceptually can impact on fertility, conception and determine fetal growth, development and birth outcomes, Both men and women should be offered pre-conception advice on weight management and alcohol consumption, and a healthy balanced diet is recommended for both partners.
