This session looks at the relevance of common dermatological disorders to the delivery of dental care by the dental practitioner.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Discuss the pathology of important dermatology disorders
  • Recognise patients with dermatology-based disorders
  • Recognise and manage complications of dental health which can arise in the important dermatology conditions

Skin diseases are extremely common and it is likely that dental practitioners will encounter a variety of them during a clinical career.

This session will look at the signs and symptoms that may manifest in patients diagnosed with common dermatology problems and how each condition should be managed. It will also look at the impact of important dermatological disorders on the provision of dental care.

There are up to a thousand different skin conditions but the dental practitioner is more likely to see the ten most common types.
