Prerequisites
Before commencing this session you should:

  • have experience of obtaining a comprehensive medical and drug history from a patient
  • have met and talked with a pregnant patient, friend or family member

As a dentist, you will need to be able to confidently treat pregnant patients.

This can be an anxious time, with many different 'dos' and 'don'ts' for these women.

As their dental care professional, it is important to be contemporary with current thinking and guidance.

This session outlines the stages of pregnancy and the challenges the pregnant patient poses for dental care provision.

The session will also explain the dental management of a pregnant patient throughout the stages of pregnancy.

Finally, this session will provide information on the drugs used in dental care and their impact upon the pregnant patient.
