Mechanisms of Early Normal Growth of the Craniofacial Skeleton course for Dental Practice
This session explains the mechanisms behind normal growth of the cranium, maxilla and mandible in the child and young adult. The growth and changes in the soft tissues of the face are also explained.

The craniofacial skeleton grows forwards and downwards in a rotational pattern. This can affect vertical and horizontal relationships. Forward growth patterns are more common than backward rotations and, for example, these can correct class 2 malocclusions or deepen an overbite.
