Managing Yourself course for Dental Practice
This session will explore organising and managing yourself whilst taking account of the needs and priorities of others.
Learning Objectives
This session will support you to:
- Manage the impact of your emotions on your behaviour with consideration of the impact on others
- Be reliable in meeting your responsibilities and commitments to consistently high standards
- Ensure that your plans and actions are flexible, and take account of the needs and work patterns of others
- Plan your own workload and activities to fulfil work requirements and commitments, without compromising your health
Establishing good working relationships and supporting each other is important in healthcare to ensure that the behaviours and emotions of team members are not adversely affecting others.
Before commencing this session you should:
- Familiarise yourself with your Professional Body's Code of Conduct and professional standards
- Access and develop an awareness of organisational policies for escalating concerns (e.g. Whistleblowing)
- Complete session 1.1 Demonstrating Personal Qualities: Developing Self-awareness
Wendy Durham is currently employed in a dual role as a Practice Educator and Non-Medical Clinical Tutor at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon.
She is a Registered General Nurse with a BA (Hons) Degree, Masters Degree in Research & Evidenced-based Practice and is currently studying towards her Professional Doctorate. Wendy currently works in multi-professional practice education, which includes developing and implementing preceptorship programmes and mentorship. In her free time, Wendy works as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University and is a qualified Lecturer/Practitioner with Post Graduate Certificates in both Medical Education and Professional Studies in Education (OPEN).
