Managing Contraceptive Side-effects course
This session will identify the side-effects associated with the use of hormonal contraceptives and offer guidance on how to manage these side-effects to encourage concordance with the method of choice.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- 5.2.1 State the possible side-effects from contraceptives
- 5.2.2 Describe the management options for women with side-effects of contraception
Combined hormonal contraceptives (CHCs) and progestogen-only (PO) contraceptives can impact on almost every system of the body and cause a range of potential side-effects.
Ruth is a Nurse Team Leader in Sexual Health, and actively campaigns for women’s health, through her role on the RCN Womens Health Forum Committee.
She is a South East representative for BASH’s special interest group for Sexual Health Advisors and Nurses (SHAN) and she has contributed to a wide range of resources and publications.
