Welcome to this session which forms part of the Safeguarding Children Level 3 course.

Learning objectives

By the end of this session you should be able to:

  • describe the role of paediatricians and other health professionals in the response to unexpected childhood deaths
  • identify possible signs and symptoms of maltreatment in an unexpected child death
  • interpret clinical findings in the light of other information available to the multi-agency team
  • describe the purpose of a Child Safeguarding Practice Review and contribute as necessary

Entry Requirements / Prerequisites

Before commencing this session you should:

  • have completed equivalent uniagency or multiagency training at Level 2
  • have completed the eLfH Safeguarding Children Level 3 introductory session
  • be working with children, young people and their parents or carers, contributing to assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the needs of a child or young person and parenting capacity, where there are safeguarding or child protection concerns
