  • Explain the difference between abrasion and abfraction

This session will discuss how to restore teeth worn by abrasion.

Abrasion may be defined as wear of teeth by any substance other than tooth substance.

It differs to erosion which is the acid dissolution of tooth substance, and attrition which involves teeth rubbing and wearing against each other. Abrasion may be difficult to distinguish from erosion and attrition. The common site for abrasion is cervical, although any part of the tooth can be abraded.
