Living Environment
‘There is no place like home’ and Standard 5 of the Aged Care Quality Standards requires the service environment to be safe, inclusive, comfortable and easy to understand. It also needs to promote each person’s function, independence and enjoyment. This learning activity will provide information for your workforce to take a ‘what does home mean’ for each person approach to care and services delivery. Information about privacy, people’s belongings, how they want their personal space to be and supporting new people is included. Safe work practise, orientation and navigation cues are considered along with work practices to promote independence and inclusion. Living Environment aligns to Standard 5 of the Aged Care Quality Standards.
