This session is designed to give healthcare professionals an overall awareness of the process of investigating the genome and when this occurs.

Learning objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • explain how genomic testing is used to support diagnosis, management and treatment;
  • describe the main clinical reasons for genomic testing;
  • outline the steps in the genomic testing pathway; and
  • summarise the samples required for each test.

The session will introduce the testing process, including why, when and how genomic testing is done, and the different steps along the clinical pathway.
