Introducing IBA and Identifying Risky Drinking: Primary Care course for GPs
Welcome to the second of three sessions in the Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) e-learning module.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Recall what Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) is
- Describe what AUDIT-C and full AUDIT are
- Recognise how to identify if patients are drinking above low-risk levels and offer brief advice
- Recognise how to identify those who may possible be dependent on alcohol and in need of signposting or referral to their GP or local alcohol support service(s)
It will describe IBA and how it has been designed to give a structured approach for professionals to identify patients drinking risk levels. IBA will help you identify whom to give the simple, structured advice to and who may require signposting to their GP or local alcohol service.
