Inlay and Onlay Restorations course for Dental Practice



This session describes when to use inlays and onlays, their material science and their clinical application.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- State the advantages of porcelain over other types of inlay and onlay materials
- Explain how the manufacturing process for Empress® Esthetic inlays differs from that of CEREC® inlays
- Compare the longevity of Empress® and CEREC® restorations
Where the intracoronal restoration of a tooth is planned, but the decay or fracture is so extensive that a direct restoration (e.g. amalgam or composite) would compromise the tooth’s structural integrity, the dental practitioner has to consider other treatment options.
Before commencing this session you should:
- Be able to explain what is meant by ‘bruxism’, ‘axio-pulpal line angle’ and ‘isthmus’
- Have completed e-Den session in Module 8 Restoration of Teeth/Restoration of Permanent Teeth/Fractured Cusps (141-0326)
