This session will help you explore how to be aware of the range of factors to be taken into account when identifying the contexts for change.

Learning Objectives

This session will support you to:

  • Demonstrate awareness of the political, social, technical, economic, organisational and professional environment
  • Understand and interpret relevant legislation and accountability frameworks
  • Anticipate and prepare for the future by scanning for ideas, best practice and emerging trends that will have an impact on health outcomes
  • Develop and communicate aspirations

Being aware of, and prepared for, potential changes which affect the delivery of healthcare is important for all staff. Particularly those who are required to evidence current practice and justify how this influences their decisions to implement change (or not).

Principal Clinical Psychologist, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children

Vanessa completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Bristol in 2005 and is currently a Principal Clinical Psychologist in the Paediatric Cardiac Service, and the National Barth Syndrome and Osteogenesis Imperfecta Services at The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. In 2012 Vanessa completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Leadership and Service Improvement, an Institute of Leadership and Management level 7 award in executive coaching and MBTI Practitioner Training.
