This session will introduce you to the concept of the unwell patient who may be physically at risk.

It also covers frailty as a long term condition which requires specific clinical diagnostics, and management. It will help you to identify frailty and identify appropriate management for someone living with frailty.

By the end of the session you should be able to:

  • Describe the features of a physically unwell patient
  • Discuss the features of systemic illness in musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions
  • Outline who you would ask for advice if unsure
  • Describe what frailty is and how to identify people who are living with frailty, or those at most risk of developing frailty

Instructors / Speakers
Greg Warner,
Orthopaedic Physician

General Practice was my first love in medicine and I spent 26 years as a partner in a practice in Romsey, Hampshire. A career in Sports Medicine and MSK grew alongside this and eventually flourished in a large MSK intermediate care service (Orthopaedic Choice) in West Hampshire. I have managed to keep both elements of my career going and to develop an educational role in MSK for GPs, trainees, medical students and others.
