Families in the UK course for General Practitioners
This session examines the changes in families that have occurred over the last century and the potential these have to influence child health.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Describe the demographic, social and economic characteristics of families in the UK
- Identify and describe changes taking place in UK families in the twenty-first century
- Describe the impact of these changes on child development and child health
In the UK, family structure and family characteristics have undergone considerable changes during the past century
Tony has a long-standing interest in children’s rights, advocacy, health promotion and child public health and is an author of a textbook on this subject.
He was chair of the RCPCH Advocacy Committee and leads the RCPCH teaching programme in the occupied Palestinian territories.
He is the module author for Families in the UK.
