Exam Preparation | Nervous System
Nervous System
Session Overview
Description
This session contains a series of short revision tutorials using multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to assist candidates preparing for the Primary FRCA Examination.
Learning Objectives
By end of this session you will be able to:
- Describe how the resting membrane potential is formed and maintained
- Explain how acetylcholine is implicated in neuromuscular transmission at the motor endplate
- Characterize nerve fibre physiology and anatomy
- Describe the nerve tracts in the spinal cord
- Comprehend the reflex arc
- Describe the components of the autonomic nervous system
These MCQ tutorials are aimed at candidates preparing for the Primary FRCA examination.
MCQ’s written to Primary FRCA standard are used to provide a focused tutorial on important concepts and areas of the curriculum that candidates have difficulty with.
Not all areas tested in the examination are covered in these tutorials. For a comprehensive review please refer to the curriculum and e-Learning sessions within Block 07.
This session provides five revision tutorials on selected topics related to neuroanatomy and neurophysiology including:
- Transmission at the Motor Endplate
- Nerve Fibres
- Anatomy of the Spinal Cord
- The Reflex Arc
- Autonomic Nervous System
Each tutorial begins with some ‘pre-tutorial MCQ’s’ to test your existing knowledge. This is followed by a revision tutorial during which we will cover the knowledge required to answer these and other similar MCQ’s.
Each tutorial ends with some ‘post-tutorial MCQ’s’ to re-test your understanding of the topic.
This format is repeated for each of the topics in this session.
