Essential Features course for GPs
This session explores the ‘essential features’ of the RCGP curriculum that impact on a GP’s ability to deliver care to patients. As well as considering the learning outcomes, the session explores how these essential features are applied to a patient problem. This session was reviewed by Suchita Shah and last updated in October 2014.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Describe the essential features of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) curriculum, and the learning outcomes derived from them
- Apply the essential features to a case study for day-to-day patient care
- Explain how these features may impact your work as a general practitioner
Essential features are all about making you aware of the types of things in your life that could impact your ability to perform your role as a GP, so you can recognise and take account of these. This means you can arrive at better decisions and will deliver better patient care.
