Error Wisdom and Patient Safety course for GPs

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

• Use the Three Buckets model of error wisdom to conceptualise risks present in a given scenario
• Recognise how frontline healthcare staff thwart patient safety incidents and contribute to improving patient safety
• Identify what lessons can be learnt from near misses in primary care

This session looks at how healthcare staff adapt to an imperfect healthcare system and bridge the safety gaps to prevent patients being harmed. By identifying and adapting to factors that could potentially lead to patient harm, healthcare staff show what is called error wisdom or foresight.
