Enabling People to Live Well with Dementia | Research and Evidence-Based Practice in Dementia
This session looks at conducting service evaluation and research in the workplace and how people affected by dementia may be involved in service evaluation and research.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Recognise the different governance requirements for service evaluation and research
- Identify ways you can participate in service evaluation or research in your workplace
- Discuss effective approaches to involving people with dementia and their families in research and service evaluation
In this session, we look at service evaluation and research. We will discuss the difference between the two areas, how you can participate and effective approaches to getting people with dementia and their families involved.
This session has been mapped to the Dementia Training Standards Framework and is designed to support the Dementia Action Alliance Dementia Statements.
Before commencing this session you may wish to complete:
- Module 1 – Introduction to Living with Dementia/Dementia Awareness (407-0030)
Kathryn completed her PhD at UCL, 'The DECIDE study: Dementia carers making informed decisions'. This work developed and tested the feasibility of a decision aid to support family carers make place of care decisions for their relative with dementia.
Her current research is broadly focused on improving the care and support provided to people living with dementia and their family carers, particularly during transitions in either levels or locations of care. She is interested in supervising PhD students with complementary interests in these overarching themes.
