Continuing Personal Development course for Dental Practice
Embracing lifelong learning as a dynamic process that can positively influence practice and healthcare is an essential aspect of on-going development for all professions involved in healthcare.
Learning Objectives
This session will support you to:
- Actively seek opportunities and challenges for personal learning and development
- Acknowledge mistakes and treat them as learning opportunities
- Participate in continuing professional development activities
- Change your behaviour in the light of feedback and reflection
Throughout this session, different strategies for developing personally and professionally will be explored, including reflective practice, work based learning and learning from mistakes.
Before commencing this session you should complete sessions:

Rhonda is Non Medical Clinical Tutor based in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. Her principal academic interests are in multi-professional healthcare education. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1983 specialising in orthopaedic nursing. In 2000 she was privileged to join a student nurse clinical placement support project in Hertfordshire.
More recently Rhonda’s educational portfolio has included working as a Continuing Professional Development Nurse within East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. She has a degree in Health and Social Care and an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and Management Studies. Rhonda is a development coach and has successfully completed the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) practitioner programme.
Chris Sykes is a Registered General Nurse, District Nurse (Specialist Practitioner) and Lecturer/Practice Educator who has thirty years experience in a variety of clinical roles in both primary and secondary care settings, as well as academic roles. She holds a BSc (Hons) and Master of Studies degree in Primary and Community Care (with Clinical Effectiveness) and is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate.
Chris works as a multi-professional Practice Education Facilitator for Health Education East of England within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Workforce Partnership and has published a number of articles on the importance of practice education in healthcare. She has also been seconded to the NHS Leadership Academy as Module Editor for The Edward Jenner programme: Leadership Foundations.
Caragh is a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and has worked in a number of clinical settings in England and Ireland including acute adult care, adolescent services, care of the older person and rehabilitation facilities. She has a BA (Hons) Degree in Health Studies and an MSc in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.
Caragh is currently employed by Health Education East of England and she works within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Workforce Partnership as a Practice Education Facilitator. She was seconded to the NHS Leadership Academy to work as a Module Editor for the development of The Edward Jenner programme: Leadership Foundations.
