Urinary incontinence, faecal incontinence and constipation are prevalent conditions affecting people across the lifespan; therefore, nurses working across a diversity of practice settings require an understanding of continence management to sensitively plan and implement patient-centered care. This subject identifies key aspects of continence management addressing: barriers, relevant anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, types/causes of incontinence, assessment, management and resources.
