Confidentiality, Chaperones and Consent course for Medical Doctors
This session discusses the principles of confidentiality in sexual and reproductive health and the provision of a chaperone for intimate examinations. It also looks at the consent requirements for tests and examinations or procedures.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- 2.2.1 State the duty of confidentiality in sexual and reproductive healthcare as it applies to patients of all ages
- 2.2.2 Understand the principles of obtaining valid patient consent
- 2.2.3 Describe the circumstances under which a chaperone may be provided or needed
During this session we will explore some of the key responsibilities that, as a healthcare professional, you have when managing patients – confidentiality and the obtaining of valid consent for investigations and treatment.
