Clinical Governance course for GPs
This session outlines the principles of clinical governance, including how clinical governance works for individual clinicians, and how clinical governance is applied to whole organisations to assure and improve quality. This session supports the development of leadership in clinical settings.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Explain how individual clinicians can use governance principles to improve the quality of their care
- Describe the essential components of a structured governance plan within a hospital directorate or GP practice
- Evaluate regional and national factors that impinge on local governance requirements
- Demonstrate how you contribute to the development of leadership by identifying how you would assure the quality of service for patients
This session outlines the principles of clinical governance, including how clinical governance is applied to whole organisations to assure and improve quality.
Before commencing this session you should complete these sessions in the Introductory Module:
- Introduction to Leadership and LeAD
- Introduction to Medical/Clinical Leadership Competency Framework
Tom trained in the West Midlands, developing an interest in a number of research areas - from the assessment of hospital cleaning to new methods of rapid sequencing of bacterial genomes. He has now moved to North Devon, where he is the lead consultant for antibiotic stewardship. He is also involved in developing the patient safety agenda.
