Resuscitation Newborn Level 2
This e-learning session meets the statutory and mandatory training requirements and learning outcomes for Resuscitation Newborn Level 2 in the UK Core Skills Training Framework (UK CSTF).

Instructions
In order to complete this learning, visit each of the chapters shown below; a tick appears on the Main Menu when each chapter has been opened. Complete the eAssessment in order to pass the course. Your training record will be updated with your eAssessment score.

If you feel you have the necessary knowledge, you can skip straight to the eAssessment without completing the knowledge chapters first.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain where to find local resuscitation policies and procedures and the current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines 
  • Explain how to recognise and respond to a newborn infant, escalating care in accordance with local policy
  • Describe the importance of temperature control in the care of the newborn
  • Demonstrate how to provide airway opening manoeuvres or airway management
  • Demonstrate how to initiate and maintain effective inflation and ventilation breaths in accordance with current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines
  • Demonstrate how to initiate and maintain effective chest compressions in accordance with current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines 
  • Explain the ABC approach
  • Outline your individual role and responsibilities in responding to persons in emergency situations
  • List your individual responsibilities in reporting and recording details of an emergency event accurately
