Care Certificate: home care scenario
This component is an accordion comprised of collapsible content panels containing display text. Select the item titles to toggle the visibility of these content panels.
This scenario is an opportunity for you to apply the principles outlined in the Care Certificate Standards in a home care setting.
It will present a series of questions which you should answer based on the Care Certificate knowledge-based sessions.
The scenario takes place in a hospice which may use different policies and procedures to your workplace.
Please check that you are following the correct policies and procedures for your own place of work, and discuss any differences within the scenario with your mentor.
In this scenario you will follow Simon, a healthcare support worker (HCSW), who will be spending the day carrying out home care visits.
Simon has been working in the domiciliary care sector for 10 years, looking after people in their own homes, helping them with their daily living tasks such as washing and dressing, preparing meals and drinks and taking medication.
Simon starts his day by going in to the office to collect details on his first home care visit of the day.
