Content covered within this unit of study includes the anatomy, physiology and pathology of hearing, alterations to hearing, assessment and monitoring hearing. The unit of study is designed to meet the needs of audiometry nurses working within a variety of settings and caring for clients across the lifespan.

Identify standards governing, and equipment used in hearing assessments (including maintenance)

  • Discuss screening techniques
  • Describe a thorough clinical hearing assessment on a client and interpret results appropriately
  • Develop a holistic approach to the management of clients with a hearing loss
  • Identify types of devices and services available to assist clients with a hearing loss.
