Description
This session examines how and why acute pain services came into existence by exploring antecedents and important landmarks. It also looks at their organization and explains how this helps to support its objectives. Challenges that the services face now and in the future are also addressed.

  • Describe the organizational structure of a typical acute pain service
  • Explain the key objectives of an acute pain service
  • Outline some of the challenges that lie ahead for acute pain services
