Session Overview
Description
This session describes how to recognize and manage the common complications of epidural and spinal anaesthesia.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Describe the common complications of regional analgesia/anaesthesia
  • Recognize the presenting symptoms of each complication
  • Explain why each complication presents as it does
  • Describe how to manage each complication

In obstetrics, before being able to effectively manage a regional block, you must be able to recognize and describe the common complications that may occur during regional analgesia and anaesthesia procedures.

It is vital that you understand why such complications occur and are able to manage them safely and effectively.
