Session Overview
Description
This session explains how to record an ECG, the structure of the ECG and how to interpret the results. It further explains the use of the ECG in clinical practice.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • List the ways in which an ECG may aid clinical decision-making
  • Identify the appropriate format for a given clinical situation using your knowledge of the pros and cons of each ECG modality
  • Identify the normal PQRST complex and be familiar with normal intervals
  • Interpret the results of the ECG
  • Calculate and evaluate the vertical axis of the heart
