Brain and neuroanatomy
Session overview
Description
This session will provide an overview of the brain and neuroanatomy.

Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • list major surface markings of the brain
  • relate brain anatomy to corresponding skull anatomy
  • list functions of each area of the brain
  • identify and name major structures on the sagittal and coronal sections of the brain (diagram and MRI)

The brain controls the actions that occur within the body. It is also in control of those actions that allow the body to interact with its environment.

In this session you will learn about the macroanatomy of the brain, how the brain is related to the bones of the skull and cranial vault and how each part of the brain functions.

You will also learn some of the pathologies that may occur when areas of the brain are damaged.
