This session will look at the theory behind, and the practical aspects of, adhesive (resin-bonded) bridges.

Learning objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • describe the development of adhesive bridges
  • list the advantages and disadvantages of adhesive bridgework
  • describe the factors responsible for their clinical success
  • outline the clinical procedures necessary for their construction and cementation

Adhesive bridges are a conservative option for replacement of missing teeth, but unfortunately they have an undeserved reputation for failure. They are also know as resin bonded or resin retained bridges.
