Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Identify the differential diagnoses of haemoptysis
Haemoptysis is defined as coughing up blood. The source of this blood may be from anywhere in the lower respiratory tract.
Common causes of haemoptysis include tuberculosis, bronchiectasis and malignancy.
This session will discuss the rarer causes of haemoptysis. Note that it is important to differentiate between haemoptysis and haematemesis (vomiting up blood).
