Session Overview
Description
Pulmonary embolism is difficult to detect because patients present with a wide array of symptoms and signs. This session will highlight the breadth of clinical presentations and which signs and symptoms are common in particular age groups.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Identify the common and rarer presenting features of pulmonary embolism and how these change with patients of different ages

Pulmonary embolism (PE) has many different clinical presentations and the diagnosis can easily be overlooked. This is especially the case as many presenting features have multiple other causes.

It is the aim of this session to help increase your awareness of the common presentations and the differences in how young and old patients may present.
