Assessing Severity of Acute Asthma
Session Overview
Description
This session identifies clinical severity indicators in acute asthma.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Recognise clinical signs that indicate the severity of acute asthma
A significant increase in dyspnoea and wheeze are indicators of acute asthma. However, clinical signs are a better indicator of severity of acute asthma than symptoms, and should guide management.
This session outlines clinical severity indicators for acute asthma.
The specific parameters that indicate severity of acute asthma are based on the British Thoracic Society guidelines, referenced at the end of the session.
