Differentiation of Causes of Fever
Session Overview
Description
This session considers the causes of fever and discusses differentials of fever in adults. It also considers causes of pyrexia of unknown origin.
Learning Objectives

- Explain the difference between fever and sepsis
- Recognise different causes of fever
- Construct a differential diagnosis for fever
Fever (also known as pyrexia) is a common symptom of many medical conditions but, by itself, is of little help in making a diagnosis.
Healthy adults can have variable temperature depending on where it is measured.
